Fans campaigning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to happen might be thrilled to know that Andrew Garfield is also open to revisiting his Spidey once again. As Spider-Man fans know, Garfield previously played the role of Peter Parker in a pair of Amazing Spider-Man movies before the character was rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland. Because there are still some fans out there who've yet to watch Spider-Man: No Way Home, be warned that MAJOR SPOILERS for the film are ahead.

In the new feature, Holland's Peter Parker is so desperate to restore things back to how they were that he enlists the help of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). This splits the multiverse and allows for villains who knew Spider-Man from different worlds to come through, taking the fight to Holland's Spidey. It also introduced Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Men stepping into the MCU, making the film one of the most ambitious superhero movies ever. With Garfield back in the fray, the actor tells Variety that he's opening to doing more with Spider-Man.

"I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right," Garfield explains. "Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself."

Marvel Fans Are Campaigning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Andrew Garfield's announcement that he's open for another Peter Parker return follows a new fan movement calling for that very thing to happen. Fans were ecstatic to see Garfield given another chance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and feel that he now deserves to be given a third full movie. Because No Way Home was Holland's third solo film, this means Garfield is the only one of the three big screen Spider-Men not to have his own complete trilogy. #TheAmazingSpiderMan3 was quickly trending after the release of the new movie.

"I am so grateful. I’m just really, really grateful that I got to tie up some loose ends for the Peter that I was playing," Garfield adds, happy with his No Way Home appearance. "I love that character and I’m grateful that I got to work with these incredible actors, this incredible director, and Marvel in conjunction with Sony. It was joyful, and a feeling of closure for me. There was so many unanswered questions for my Peter, where we left it. I got to step back in and get some healing for him. And also really supporting [Holland’s] Peter, and honoring his character completing that trilogy, not distracting or detracting from it."

Time will tell if The Amazing Spider-Man 3 ends up happening, but the momentum for the potential is stronger than ever. For now, fans can check out Garfield's latest return to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, now playing in theaters.
