MAJOR SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home to follow...

Now that everything has come to light, and Andrew Garfield has once again donned the red and blue spandex as The Amazing Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, talk has turned to the actor receiving a third movie in his respective franchise. Well, while speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield has now declared that he is “definitely open” to reprising the role of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, and reveals what exactly would need to be included to tempt him back...

“In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that, and again, it would have to be something very unique, very special, and of service to an audience, of service to the character. I think there's something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done. I'm not sure what that is, but if we could figure that out, it would be so much fun.”

According to Andrew Garfield, so long as The Amazing Spider-Man 3 tells a unique, special story that pays service to the beloved Marvel character, he would eagerly return for more web-slinging. Garfield has clearly been thinking about a potential sequel, with the actor believing that there is a “playful,” “odd,” and “unexpected” movie to be made, and hopes that such a movie can be figured out.

Garfield’s words are sure to delight fans of the actor’s portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. While the actor has always been considered pitch-perfect casting for the role, many felt that he was not given quite the right material in The Amazing Spider-Man series, something which has been rectified in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since his triumphant entrance into the MCU, Spider-Man fans have rallied behind Garfield, and the love for the actor has not gone unnoticed by Garfield himself.

"That love has reached me, and the enjoyment of people in theaters has reached me," he says. "It's very touching, I find it very deeply moving, because when we started my second Spider-Man film, it petered out. There was a disjointedness there. So for me, coming back and actually getting some more time to have fun with it, and to give the character some closure, and to play and to be the version of Spider-Man that I was always wanting to get to, and to be with Tobey and Tom and the rest of everybody in the movie, that was healing.”

Directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home finds Peter Parker struggling after his secret identity is exposed by the tricksy supervillain, Mysterio. Unsure what to do, Peter turns to Doctor Strange and asks The Master of the Mystic Arts to use magic to make his Spider-Man identity a secret again. When the spell goes wrong, the multiverse is broken open and allows visitors from alternate realities to enter Parker's universe including, of course, Andrew Garfield’s alternate version of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and more, Spider-Man: No Way Home has seen huge critical and financial success and is currently the eighth-highest-grossing movie of all time.
