Now that everyone and their mother has seen Spider-Man: No Way Home, and basked in the surprisingly triumphant return of Andrew Garfield as The Amazing Spider-Man, fans have allowed themselves to wonder whether we will see more of him in the future. Well, with Sony’s Venom-Verse finding much success all its own, separate from the MCU, could we see Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man come face-to-face with Tom Hardy’s Venom? For what it’s worth, while speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield says that he thinks the idea sounds “cool.”

“That’s a cool idea."

Thanks to the erosion of the barriers keeping the multiverse at bay, Spider-Man: No Way Home brings Andrew Garfield’s iteration of Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man back into the cinematic superhero fray, teaming him up with both Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire in one of the most satisfyingly crowd-pleasing finales of all time. Come the movie’s end, Garfield has returned to his own universe, with many now wondering whether Sony will either reveal that The Amazing Spider-Man universe was the Venom-Verse all along, or will send Andrew Garfield across the multiverse and on a collision course with Tom Hardy’s Lethal Protector.

There is currently no official word regarding Andrew Garfield’s future as Spider-Man on the big screen, but the fact that the actor himself sounds on board with the idea of clashing with Tom Hardy’s Venom will surely have Sony stroking their collective beards in thought.

While we wait and see whether Sony decide to invest in Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man and make him their Spider-Man opposite Tom Holland’s version in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Garfield has recently stated that he would be “open” to continuing the story of his Peter Parker in a potential The Amazing Spider-Man 3. “In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that, and again, it would have to be something very unique, very special, and of service to an audience, of service to the character,” the actor said. “I think there's something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done. I'm not sure what that is, but if we could figure that out, it would be so much fun.”

There has also been talk of Andrew Garfield’s web-slinger already being added to Sony’s comic book shared universe, with news of Morbius reshoots sparking speculation that this time will be used to reintroduce The Amazing Spider-Man following his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Should this turn out to be true, it would likely see Garfield appear in a cameo, perhaps in a post-credits sequence.

Directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home finds Peter Parker struggling after his secret identity is exposed. Unsure what to do, Peter turns to Doctor Strange and asks The Master of the Mystic Arts to use magic to make his Spider-Man identity a secret again, but when the spell goes wrong, the multiverse is broken open and allows visitors from alternate realities to enter Parker's universe including Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's alternate versions of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
