While filming Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland became jealous of one aspect of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man costume according to the Amazing Spider-Man star himself. While discussing his time filming the epic Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of both his and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men, Garfield revealed that Tom Holland had one particular reason for being jealous of his costume, and it all revolved around his ability to use a mobile phone. While it may seem a peculiar thing for someone to be envious of, Garfield explained to Variety how it all came down to the inclusion of zippers that allowed him to remove the hands of his suit, while Holland didn’t have that luxury.

Garfield said, “Tom was jealous because I have little zippers in my suit that I can get my hands out of very easily. To work his phone, he had to use his nose because he couldn’t access his hands."

Holland himself has had many different Spider-Man suits during this time in the MCU, mainly thanks to the always advancing technology of Tony Stark, but it seems that no matter how flashy the suit is on screen, when it comes to the practicalities of shooting there are some simple aspects that will always win out. Of course, the suits of the MCU’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man have frequently been a debating point for fans, as the technologically advanced versions are a long way from the classic comic book look the character has carried off since the 1960s.

Spider-Man: No Way Home had some high expectations resting on its shoulders when it arrived in cinemas in December, and it certainly exceeded them all in both audience reaction and box office takings. That immediately led to questions over the future of Tom Holland’s web-slinger in the MCU and it took only a few days for Amy Pascal to drop some confirmations that discussions were already underway about the next chapter in Peter Parker’s story. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige also confirmed that Spider-Man’s adventures within the MCU are a long way from done, making many fans happy in the process.

In another universe though, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is also a consideration for future appearances, with a surge of fan support for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to finally be made in the Sony universe of Spider-Man characters, where he could face off against Venom, Morbius and more. For the first half of 2021, most fans believed that Sony’s Spider-Man based movies were completely apart from the MCU, but the arrival of Venom: Let There Be Carnage changed that by transporting Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock into the MCU via what we would later learn to be Doctor Strange’s botched spell in No Way Home. While this was all resolved by the time the end credits rolled in the $1 billion smash hit, there are still a number of puzzling aspects about Sony’s universe that fans are desperate to have explained.

The trailer for Sony’s Morbius has shown shots of Michael Keaton as the Vulture, a character he originally played in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but now seems to be in Sony’s universe. In addition to this, the Morbius trailer also revealed a poster showing Spider-Man with the word “murderer” written across it. Considering there has been no sight of Spider-Man in this universe yet, some fans have started speculating whether Andrew Garfield could turn out to be the web-slinger of Sony’s Universe. It is clear that Spider-Man will be coming to this side of Marvel films at some point, but how it will happen, and who it will be is something we can only wait to find out.
