According to Variety, CBS has greenlit production on the pilot Mike Birbiglia's Secret Public Journal, a half-hour comedy that began life in 2006 as an NBC project.

The former Late Night with Conan O'Brien scribe Andrew Secunda co-created the project with Birbiglia, a stand-up comic who will also star in the pilot. Secunda wrote the pilot script.

In Seinfeld-ian fashion, Birbiglia will play a stand-up comic who lives with his g.f. in Brooklyn and battles with the daily pressures of adult life. CBS Par Network TV is producing the pilot, which is based loosely on Birbiglia's own life experiences.

Mike Birbiglia's Secret Public Journal was first set up at the Peacock nearly 18 months ago, with Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo's Roundtable Television producing via NBC Universal TV Studios (Daily Variety, Nov.
