It seems that the man who stepped into a motion-capture suit to portray Gollum will do so again for a new Fox film. 20th Century Fox revealed on their Twitter page that Andy Serkis has joined the cast of Rise of the Apes.

Serkis will star as the lead ape Caesar the, "chimp who leads the simian revolt." Serkis joins a cast that already includes James Franco, John Lithgow and Freida Pinto. Here's a synopsis for the film below.

"Rise of the Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates on this upcoming film.
