Tony Leung and newcomer Tang Wei have been cast as the leads in the World War II espionage thriller, Lust, Caution for Focus Features.

The film, directed and produced by Ang Lee, is based on the short story written by the late Chinese author Eileen Chang, where a main character tries to seduce and assassinate a Chinese spy working for the Japanese government. The Hollywood Reporter notes Leung stars as a powerful Shanghai politician who becomes entangled with a young woman (Tang); also part of the cast is Chinese pop idol and actor Wang Lee Homeen cast, who will play a student involved with the woman.

A 2007 release has been scheduled for Lust, Caution.
