An elderly man in Thailand purchased a ticket to see Annabelle Comes Home, only to later be found dead when the movie was over. Although the deceased man was first reported to be a foreigner, he has since been identified as a 77-year-old British national who was in Thailand on vacation. While it's not clear if he was alone on the trip, he had gone to the cinema by himself, purchasing only a single ticket. Sadly, this would turn out to be the last thing he would ever do.

During the movie, nobody had noticed anything amiss, so it's impossible to say how long the man's body had been sitting there following his sudden death. When the theater lights were turned on after the showing, another patron sitting next to him was shocked to discover he was apparently dead. She immediately called for emergency assistance, and a responding doctor declared him dead on the scene. His body was then carried away through a side door to be transported to the local hospital for further analysis to determine an exact cause of death. Whether being frightened by the movie contributed to his death or if he just happened to die while watching a horror movie is all merely speculation at this time.

This isn't the first time a person has reportedly passed away while watching a Conjuring movie. In 2016, a 65-year-old man from Andrah Pradesh, India, suffered a heart attack during The Conjuring 2, passing away in the theater at a late showing of the horror thriller. It was reported that the man in question had a massive stroke while sitting in his seat. Again, it was not known if the movie proved to be too scary for him, or if it was just his time to go.

Annabelle Comes Home is the seventh installment of The Conjuring universe and the third Annabelle movie. It serves as a sequel to the original, as the prior installment was a prequel story. The new movie also serves as the directorial debut of Gary Dauberman and features Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their franchise roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, and Katie Sarife also star. This time, the Warrens lock up the Annabelle doll in the artifacts room of their home to keep its sinister nature contained within. Unfortunately, it awakens the other evil spirits in the room, resulting in a night of pure horror for the Warrens' 10-year-old daughter, her friends, and their babysitter.

Each of the Annabelle movies in the Conjuring universe are known for being particularly frightening. To boot, they're also tremendously profitable. Since its recent theatrical release, Annabelle Comes Home has already pulled in over $80 million in ticket sales against its budget of about $30 million. The original Annabelle also grossed over $257 million against a budget of less than $7 million and its first sequel Annabelle: Creation brought in a whopping $306 million against a $15 million budget. Critically, Annabelle Comes Home is also doing fairly well, sitting at a 68% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That's up considerably from the original's paltry 29% rating and comparable to Creation's 70% fresh rating.

Annabelle Comes Home is now playing in theaters everywhere, but perhaps it's not the best choice of movie for those with the faint of heart. We offer our condolences to the family of the man that died, and may he rest in peace. This information comes to us from The Daily Mail.
