Showbiz 411 reports that actress Anne Hathaway has signed onto star in The Silver Linings Playbook, with Bradley Cooper in contention for a lead role as well.

We first reported on this project last March, with the news that writer-director David O. Russell came on board to adapt and direct the Matthew Quick novel. While it was believed that David O. Russell would tackle Uncharted: Drake's Fortune next, it seems this project may go first.

The story centers on Pat Peoples, a former high school teacher who was institutionalized for depression and is then released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with a bizarre neighbor who also has a history of mental problems. The mother role has yet to be cast.

It wasn't clear when The Silver Linings Playbook would go into production, and it still hasn't been confirmed that this will in fact be David O. Russell's next movie.
