Producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are teaming up with Reliance Big Entertainment, Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman to bring the Anne Rice novel The Tale of the Body Thief to the silver screen.

The story centers on the vampire Lestat, who was portrayed by Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire, and by Stuart Townsend in Queen Of The Damned. Lestat, who has grown depressed after centuries as a vampire, decides to transfer souls with a psychic for one day. The psychic, though, is invigorated by the switch and will not give Lestat his body back. Lestat must round up some friends with his new human form in order to get his vampire body back.

Lee Patterson will adapt the screenplay from Anne Rice's novel. The producers found Lee Patterson through Reliance Big Media's Writer's Lab.

The Tale of the Body Thief is not set up at a studio yet, and it isn't clear when production may start.
