Ant-Man and the Wasp is reportedly about to undergo reshoots in Los Angeles to redo the opening of the movie. Reshoots are obviously a common practice in Hollywood, especially for movies that are on the larger side. And Marvel reshoots are no different. Some reshoots end up taking a bit longer than anticipated, which is where the problems start to get reported. For instance, Justice League was only supposed to do reshoots for a few weeks, but those weeks turned to months and then Warner Bros. ended up with a Frankensteined project. However, Ant-Man and the Wasp is only supposed to be concentrating on one scene, so it shouldn't be a cause for alarm.
The same report that states that Ant-Man and the Wasp will undergo reshoots also says that the opening scene takes place in South America and that it didn't test very well with audiences. The source goes on to say that the entire opening scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp will be reshoot while on location in Los Angeles, which is also where Captain Marvel is currently filming. This report has not been officially confirmed, so we'll take this news with a grain of salt until some set photos pop up.
Since Captain Marvel is filming in the Los Angeles area, it would make sense for Ant-Man and the Wasp to take advantage of the Marvel crew being in the same area. Who knows, maybe Paul Rudd will make an appearance in Captain Marvel as his Clueless character, Josh Lucas. The movie does take place in the early 1990s and that would be a pretty amazing cameo to have within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (especially since Marvel loves to de-age its actors). Hopefully, no matter what reshoots go down, that actually happens. That would be a huge missed opportunity.
Ant-Man has been suspiciously absent from the marketing for the upcoming Infinity War along with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and fans are starting to wonder what the deal is. Marvel fans have a certain idea of where Hawkeye will come into play, but Ant-Man has been missing in action in all of the latest promotional material. It could be that Marvel is saving him for his own movie since it comes out a few months after Infinity War and that he'll show up in a larger (or smaller) role in the still untitled Avengers 4.
Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on July 6th, less than 4 months after Infinity War, and will be the third Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to hit theaters this year. Again, the reshoots are reportedly going to start soon in Los Angeles and are rumored to shoot the entire opening of the sequel. It sounds like a big undertaking, but they still have plenty of time to fix whatever they want to fix.
