Actor Anthony Hopkins is in talks to portray legendary director Alfred Hitchcock in an adaptation of the non-fiction book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of 'Psycho'.

We just reported on this project a few days ago, with Anvil! the Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi in negotiations to direct the adaptation. John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan) is adapting the script from Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book.

The book, which was first published in 1998, centers on Alfred Hitchcock's efforts in trying to make his horror classic Psycho, which no studio wanted to make. This lead to Alfred Hitchcock financing the movie himself. The story will also focus on the director's relationship with his wife, Alma Reville.

Montecito is behind the adaptation, which will likely land at Paramount Pictures through their first-look deal with Montecito. Deals haven't been made with either Anthony Hopkins or Sacha Gervasi, although they have been taking meetings with Montecito.
