Marvel Studios has always been pretty tight on the secrecy around their biggest movie releases. When it comes to Anthony Mackie’s full movie debut as the new Captain America in Captain America: New World Order, the actor has revealed that security on the project is tighter than ever. While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Mackie revealed that there is a whole intricate process protecting the new offering. He said:

“We literally get a passcode to a website that gives us a location to meet the person to sign, to sit with a computer, and read our script.”

Captain America: New World Order will not only be the first big appearance of Mackie’s hero following his transition to the role vacated by Steve Rogers, but also the first time we see the United States getting a new president in the form of Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross. With the plot said to center around the world’s desire to obtain a new element by the familiar name of Adamantium, the stage is set for a global conflict that will see Mackie’s Captain America being forced into a mission that stops the wrong people getting their hands on the element best known for giving Wolverine his claws. Read into that what you will.

Captain America: New World Order Will Be Another Huge MCU Movie

While every movie has its place in the MCU, Captain America: New World Order is looking set to be as big as the last movie in the franchise, Captain America: Civil War. Although it is unlikely that there will be a clash of heroes this time around, the biggest battle looks set to be between Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross, who has seemingly been elevated to position of POTUS since his last appearance.

There are many reasons why Captain America: New World Order can have an impact on the MCU going forward, even without being part of the multiverse story. The rumored introduction of Adamantium is by far the biggest take-away from reports about the movie’s plot. As mentioned, the element may be new to the MCU, but it is by no means a mystery to Marvel fans, and gives the biggest tease yet as to how close the MCU is to getting its new Wolverine. It is very unlikely that the movie will bring a first look at the X-Men character, it may very well include a post-credits tease of Wolverine’s genetic creation to set up his future appearance.

In addition to this is Thaddeus Ross himself. Now acting as the President of the United States gives Ross a new power, and one that could see him clash with not only Mackie’s Captain America, but with other Avengers if they do not comply with his orders. In a way, it could be this kind of challenge that leads directing to the creation of the Thunderbolts team, to do the things for Ross that Captain America won’t.

All will be revealed next year, when Captain America: New World Order hits theaters in May 2024.
