While promoting his latest movie Take the Lead, Antonio Banderas has been talking about his return to Broadway. He is scheduled to star as Don Juan in Don Juan DeMarco, an adaptation of the 1995 New Line movie starring Marlon Brando and Johnny Depp, where a psychiatrist takes on a patient who claims to be Don Juan.

According to Variety, Marsha Norman (The Color Purple musical) will write the play and a composer is being sought. The show will be produced by New Line. Bryan Adams and film composer Michael Kamen (X-Men) were previously attached to the project, although Kamen has since passed away.

Banderas said that the show will debut on Broadway next year and will be directed by David Leveaux.
