AppleTV+ Physical
AppleTV+

Dark, hilarious and offering unique takes on modern body positivity, Physical aired its first season in June 2021 to rave reviews. The show follows Sheila, played by Rose Byrne, a woman living in San Diego back in the 1980s; on the outside, she's a meek housewife whose only purpose is to support her husband's career. Inside, she's dealing with a whole plethora of inner demons and body issues, and she ultimately finds a new sense of identity in the world of aerobics. Physical's first season showcased Sheila's rebirth into a proud, successful lifestyle guru and businesswoman, and we can't wait to see what the next season has in store! As far as we know, there haven't been any changes to the casting, so you can look forward to seeing all your favorite characters in the upcoming chapter of the story.

Depicting an alternate reality wherein space exploration followed a completely different path, For All Mankind gives us a jaw-dropping look at how the world could have been if the Soviet Union made it to the moon first. The show's first and second seasons followed the Union's immensely successful exploits and the United States' struggle to keep up, and we see history unfold with more diversity after the Union includes more women and racialized individuals in the field. It's exciting and thought-provoking, and there's no telling how the story will continue to evolve from here. If the second season was any indication, there's a good chance Season 3 could receive more nominations and even awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, season 3 will focus on the race to Mars.

Loot — June 24

AppleTV+ show Loot
Apple Inc.

Unlike several entries on this list, Loot is a brand new show that will debut its first season this June! Featuring an incredible ensemble cast of actors like Maya Rudolph, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (one of Time's Women of the Year), and Ron Funches, the show has an unexpectedly positive premise, per TV Insider. After a luxurious billionaire is betrayed by her husband, she begins acting out in public; the tabloids actively document her downward spiral, which leads to her learning that she actually has a charity in her name. Realizing that her actions are bringing bad publicity to the cause, she sets off on a reformative journey of giving back to others. If you're looking for something outrageously funny that will still give you that warm fuzzy feeling, this is probably it.

Unlike the first season, this installment is a collection of special features and additional content that hasn't been aired yet.
