Just a few days after a rumor surfaced that John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are being considered for a DC Comics movie that may be Aquaman, Heat Vision Blog reports that Furious 7 director James Wan is actually Warner Bros.' top choice to direct that particular DC movie, which has Jason Momoa set to star. The studio has not issued an official offer, but they have had preliminary talks with the filmmaker. The news comes just one week after Furious 7 hit theaters, taking in a whopping $143.6 million in its first weekend.

The site also reports that Warner Bros. are currently developing two separate scripts for Aquaman, with one written by Kurt Johnstad (300) and the other by Will Beall (Gangster Squad). The big issue standing in the way of James Wan signing on is the impending Furious 7 sequel, Fast & Furious 8. While the sequel doesn't have a director officially attached yet, and some believe that James Wan will not return, Universal Pictures does hold an option on the filmmaker, and they may exercise it to bring him back.

The director is prepping his next film, The Conjuring 2, for Warner Bros, which is slated to begin production this fall, with a June 10, 2016 release date already set. Aquaman isn't slated for release until July 27, 2018, but there will be a considerable amount of pre-production work, which Warner Bros. wants to get started on as soon as possible. Do you think James Wan would be the right filmmaker to tell Aquaman's story? Let us know what you think below, and stay tuned for more updates.
