Arnold Schwarzenegger is stepping into the horror world by signing on to star and produce the zombie thriller Maggie. Chloe Moretz had been in talks to portray the title character last year, but she was forced to bow out, due to scheduling issues.

The story centers on a young girl who has become infected with the zombie virus that has spread throughout the country. Arnold Schwarzenegger is playing the girl's father, who helps her come to terms with becoming one of the walking dead. Paddy Considine was previously attached to the father role, but he is no longer involved either.

Henry Hobson is directing from a screenplay by John Scott 3, which landed on The Black List in 2011. Arnold Schwarzenegger will produce alongside Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, Matthew Baer, Trevor Kaufman, Colin Bates and Joseph Tufaro. Production is scheduled to begin this fall.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will next be seen in Escape Plan, opening October 18, and in Ten, hitting theaters in January.
