The CW's Arrow is adding to its growing villain lineup once again, with Matt Ward (Tron: Legacy) signing on to play the nefarious Simon Lacroix, a.k.a. Komodo in Season 3.

The character was introduced in DC's "New 52" last April as a young, impoverished man who went on to work for Oliver Queen's father, before turning into a deadly mercenary with archery skills that rival Oliver's. While it isn't known how much of his back story will come into play on the CW series, Komodo will be wreaking havoc upon Starling City in Season 3.

Komodo will be introduced in the second episode of Season 3 as the "villain of the week," but, as executive producer Marc Guggenheim explains, this character is part of the show's initiative to connect their weekly villains into a larger story.

"Yes, he's the villain-of-the-week for the second week of the show, but you'll see that Team Arrow's pursuit of him is part and parcel of a season-long storyline. You're going to know what happens to Komodo at the end of the episode, but it will be a little bit tied in better with the season-long mythology than villain-of-the-week episodes have done in the past."

Matt Ward's big screen credits include Tooth Fairy, Tron: Legacy, Charlie St. Cloud and Red Riding Hood.
