20th Century Fox has unleashed seven new photos from their highly-anticipated video game adaptation Assassin's Creed, which is set to hit theaters December 21. These images give us a closer look at Michael Fassbender's Callum Lynch, including the character riding on horseback and producing his infamous sleeve daggers, an image which will surely be familiar to fans of the hit video game. We also get a glimpse at Marion Cotillard's Sophia Rikkin, who is seen watching over Callum as he is strapped to a device that will submerge him underwater.

The Playlist debuted these images, and they also hint that a new trailer could be just around the corner. The site speculates that the second trailer may be attached to prints of 20th Century Fox's Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, in theaters September 30. The first trailer arrived in late June, which left many fans and critics underwhelmed, so we'll have to see what they have in store for us with the second trailer.

Last month, we reported that the production's death-defying Leap of Faith stunt set a new world record. Stuntman Damien Walters' free fall from 125 feet was the highest leap in over 35 years. Production wrapped in January, so we aren't exactly sure when this record-breaking leap took place. Hopefully we'll get to see more footage of this impressive jump when the new trailer arrives in the near future.

The movie centers on Callum Lynch, played by Michael Fassbender, who discovers he is a descendant of a mysterious secret society, the Assassins. He then gathers the knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization. This is accomplished through a breakthrough technology that unlocks his genetic memories. Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain, during the Spanish Inquisition.

The supporting cast for Assassin's Creed is rounded out by Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Carlos Bardem, Denis Menochet, Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons. Justin Kurzel directs from a script by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Leslie. Assassin's Creed will open on December 21, five days after the highly-anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It will also go up against Passengers, Sing and The Space Between Us on December 21. Take a look at these new photos from Assassin's Creed below.
