Saturday Night Live took aim at Avatar: The Way of Water in the newest episode on Saturday night. Since its release in movie theaters, the Avatar sequel has already achieved immense success, rising up high as one of the highest-grossing movies of all times after a matter of weeks. SNL's new parody features guest host Aubrey Plaza joining the cast to imagine a new take on the tribe. You can watch the video below, via SNL on YouTube.

The sketch features Mikey Day as Jake Sully, informing the others that humans have infiltrated the group, disguising themselves as Avatars. Finding out which two might be the human spies may not be that difficult of a task, given the very human-like behavior exhibited by the characters played by Plaza and Heidi Gardner. While Jake isn't quite so sure, the other Na'vi (Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, and Devon Walker) are pretty quick to catch on. But are these two the only humans among them?

Meanwhile, SNL featured more Avatar spoofing with the re-airing of a 2010 episode hosted by Sigourney Weaver. That episode featured a raunchy spoof of the original film. If you're so inclined, you can watch that video below as well.

There were many moments from the new episode that had drawn a lot of praise from fans, so we could be seeing Plaza back in the future to guest host Saturday Night Live once again. Another notable moment saw Plaza revisiting her Parks and Rec role as April Ludgate alongside Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope. Plaza also appears as the titular doll in a M3GAN 2.0 parody ad and similarly spoofed her HBO series The White Lotus in a different sketch. That followed Plaza kicking off the episode with an entertaining monologue which saw her giving viewers a tour of the SNL studio.

"I am so happy to be here, this is a dream come true, and yes, I mean that," Plaza says at the start of her monologue, poking some fun at her "weird" reputation and the apathy she sometimes displays with her characters. "I know sometimes when I try to be sincere, it can come off as sarcastic, but I care! I really do care about things."

SNL will return on Jan. 28 with next guest host Michael B. Jordan alongside musical guest Lil Baby. You can stream the new episode featuring Plaza, as well as past episodes of Saturday Night Live, on Peacock.
