A newly released poster for Avatar: The Way of Water further teases the return of the big, blue cat-people, the Na’vi. Released via social media, the poster puts the focus on what appears to be one of Jake and Neytiri’s children, with Avatar: The Way of Water centering on the familiar heroes and their new family, as well as exploring the underwater world of Pandora.

A trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water was finally released yesterday after a whole lot of waiting and an abundance of patience. The trailer does a great job of keeping much of the plot a secret, but the footage does provide a leering look at the lush visuals that will no doubt make the long-awaited sequel equally as successful as its record-breaking predecessor.

What we do know about Avatar: The Way of Water is that, after all these years, the follow-up will pick up with Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) more than a decade after the events of the first Avatar movie. The first of several planned sequels, Avatar: The Way of Water will begin to tell the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Avatar: The Way of Water will introduce audiences to Jake and Neytiri’s new family, which will include several native Na’vi children, Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss), as well as the human child Miles Socorro, also known as Spider, played by The Night Sitter star Jack Champion. Spider is taken into the brood of Avatar heroes Jake and Neytiri after being born at the now-abandoned military base on Pandora. Too young to be returned to Earth, Jake decides to take the child in as one of their own.

"It's exciting; nerve-wracking,” she said. “Humbling as well, you know – the wait is finally over. And we get to share something that we love so much with so many people that we know love it, too."
