The Avatar franchise is once again on everyone's mouths thanks to the enormous success of Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 film directed by James Cameron, which marked a before and after in the industry for its visual effects and amazing display.

13 years later, the franchise was brought back to life after the director assured that he had to wait for technology to advance before he could continue telling the story of Pandora. And there is no doubt about everything that has been achieved in these years, reflected in every aspect of The Way of Water, especially in the scenes that take place underwater.

But the settings were not the only aspect in which the saga improved. Through his Instagram account, conceptual artist Joseph C. Pepe shared an incredible look at his design of the Na'vi, with images that also present one of the inhabitants of the incredible world plagued with a particular brightness, something characteristic of this universe:

Who Are the Na’vi, Avatar’s Main Characters?

The Na'vi are a race of intelligent extraterrestrial humanoids who inhabit the moon called Pandora. Humans also often refer to them as "the blue ones," "savages," "the locals," "hostiles," or "the natives."

The Na'vi and the Tulkun are the only known extraterrestrial species to have a level of intelligence comparable to humans. Although the Na'vi are hunters and gatherers with technology equivalent to Paleolithic times on Earth, they are highly intelligent and have developed a sophisticated culture based on a deep spiritual connection to other life forms on their planet.

In the first film, we got an in-depth look at the Na'vi who live in the forest and move mainly in high places, while the sequel delved into the tribes who live by the sea and have prowess as swimmers. In addition, the third installment will explore other Na'vi nations so that, little by little, we can get to know each of the tribes that live on Pandora, as Cameron expressed in a previous interview:

“I want to show the Na'vi from another angle because, so far, I've only shown their good side. In the early movies, there are very negative examples of humans and very positive examples of the Na'vi. In Avatar 3 we will do the opposite. We will explore new worlds while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way of setting the table before serving the food.”
