Although he only had a small role in this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaue is believed to have a bigger part in Marvel's Black Panther and possibly even in Captain America: Civil War, which just wrapped production. The fan group Marvel Cinematic Universe has revealed a photo that was briefly shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron, a file on Klaue that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) pulls while trying to figure out Earth's Mightiest Heroes' next move. While the text is rather hard to read, the site has provided a transcription, offering details that could have big implications for Marvel Phase Three. There will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.
"Ulysses Klaue was an assassin hired to take down T'Chaka at the Bilderberg conference in the case that he refused to negotiate Wakanda's resources including Vibranium. But, Klaue was also there personally, as the Panther killed his great-grandfather in the 19th century while this one was trying to annex Wakanda. He was paid ten million dollars for the kill."
Earlier this month, an unconfirmed report revealed that T'Chaka, the father of Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, will be killed at some point during Captain America: Civil War. While that report wouldn't say who killed the Wakanda leader, most assumed it will be Ulysses Klaue, since this character kills T'Chaka in the original comics. We still don't know who is playing T'Chaka in Captain America: Civil War, but Chadwick Boseman is set to make his MCU debut in this highly-anticipated superhero adventure.
What's interesting is that, since T'Chaka will presumably be alive at some point in Captain America: Civil War, before his death, that means Klaue must have failed in his mission outlined in this file, which states he was paid $10 million for the kill. We don't know who paid him this exorbitant fee, but the file also mentions that he is a former member of Intelligencia, a group from the comics comprised of intellectual, science-driven villains such as MODOK and The Leader. It's also possible that this happened before the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and fans will first learn about it in Captain America: Civil War, especially since we haven't heard who is playing T'chaka yet.
Then again, Marvel president Kevin Feige recently said that T'challa is in the "beginning phases" of taking over as Black Panther from his father, because he is getting older. This leads us to believe that we will actually see T'chaka in the movie, before he is murdered, presumably by Ulysses Klaue. There have also been reports that T'challa shows up in Captain America: Civil War to track down The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), with fans speculating that he's responsible for T'chaka's death. While we wait for more details, check out the photo from Marvel Cinematic Universe below, and stay tuned for more details.
