The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is happening right now in Las Vegas, where Samsung held their "Night with Marvel" presentation, which included new footage from Marvel's highly-anticipated Phase Two sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. While it isn't known when these scenes may be released to the general public, it was hinted that the footage may be released on Samsung devices at some point in the near future. While several bits of footage were re-used from the first trailer released back in October, there were also a few new scenes, according to IGN.
The footage largely focused on the evil Ultron (James Spader), with one new scene showcasing some of the robots in his army bursting through the walls of a train, in a slow-motion Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) sequence. The second scene takes place at the Italian villa shown in the first trailer, with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) flying towards the camera as he leaves several of Ultron's robots tumbling behind him. The third scene shows the desctruction of a Samsung building.
The featurette also included interview footage with director Joss Whedon revealing that every time he thought about The Avengers, he pictured them fighting Ultron. He also added that he wanted a James Spader-like actor to portray Ultron, so he just went after the actor himself. The video also showed concept art that depicts how Ultron evolves and becomes more advanced as the movie progresses, along with "old school Ultron imagery." It isn't known yet if any of this footage will be included in the second trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, slated to debut January 12.
In addition, we also have new merchandise photos which feature Earth's Mightiest Heroes on tote bags, lunchboxes, Chunky Magnets, desktop standees and playing cards. Check out the images below, and be sure to check back next week for the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, arriving January 12. Director Joss Whedon's Phase Two sequel hits theaters nationwide May 1.
