/is-baron-von-strucker-the-second-villain-in-avengers-age-of-ultron/Right before Christmas, it was rumored that Baron Wolfgang von Strucker would be the second main villain behind Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron. That is confirmed this morning as Thomas Kretschmann, who can currently be seen as Abraham van Helsing on NBC's Dracula, has signed onto play the role.

Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is a former Nazi officer who later became the head of H.Y.D.R.A. He is a sworn enemy of both Captain America and Nick Fury. It is unclear at this time how he will team up with the sentient artificial being known as Ultron, or if he is coming in as part of a secondary storyline that will have repercussions throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the Marvel comic books, Baron Von Strucker is both ageless, and has the ability to die over and over again, always coming back for more. It was previously reported that in Joss Whedon's current draft of the script, brother and sister duo Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) actually work for Strucker. It is not known if they are part of H.Y.D.R.A. or the Masters of Evil organization itself.

Thomas Kretschmann's previous credits include Peter Jackson's King Kong and Wanted alongside Angelina Jolie.
