Avengers: Endgame almost had Scott Lang wrangling giant insects to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. When it comes to superhero movies with a massive cast of characters, the sky is the limit in terms of imagination. There are so many ways the climactic battle between good vs. evil at the conclusion of Endgame could have gone down. Captain Marvel could have come a lot sooner and pretty much taken everybody down, or Doctor Strange could have gotten even weirder. Even Paul Rudd's Scott Lang could have done something drastically different.

Some newly released Avengers 4 concept art features Scott Lang summoning his giant insects to take on Thanos and his army. Along with him, they are massive in the artwork and they can be seen dealing some pretty heavy damage to the other side. While this would have looked pretty epic on the big screen, there was already a lot going on during that final battle and some giant insects may have been just a tad too much for viewers to take in. Maybe we'll see the giant insects make a return in the upcoming Ant-Man 3.

There is a lot of things that did not make it into Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Some of it is stuff that Marvel Cinematic Universe fans would love to see, and some of it is better left on the cutting room floor. For instance, not many fans would have wanted to see a Captain America eating mashed potatoes with his blood dripping into them. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely actually wrote that in the original script, but later decided that was a bit far to go.

In terms of things that MCU fans would have liked to see in Avengers: Endgame, there was more of Thanos' backstory included in both movies. However, it was later cut due to time constraints. There's a lot going on in Endgame and Infinity War, so it's pretty amazing that the Russo Brothers and Kevin Feige, along with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were able to zero in on the essentials, while cutting away the fat. There are a million and one ways they could have had the story go, but they were able to boil it down to the bare minimum and build up from there.

Giant insects are always going to be good on the big screen, but they just weren't meant for Avengers: Endgame. Paul Rudd will be back as Scott Lang in Ant-Man 3, though we don't know what that threequel will be about at this time. MCU fans are hoping that Ghost will be back, along with the usual suspects, which seems like a possibility. It will really hinge on where the story is going forward after the events of Avengers: Endgame. A lot has changed in the MCU and shifted.
