Avengers: Endgame is beginning to look a bit dark. In a new interview, Falcon star Anthony Mackie admitted that his character is dead. Sebastian Stan also recently revealed that Winter Soldier/Bucky is dead too, leading many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans to wondering what the fourth Avengers movie will have going on. At the end of Infinity War, Thanos gathered all six of the Infinity Stones and Decimated half of the universe, including some of our favorite heroes like Falcon, Winter Soldier, and Spider-Man.

While some Avengers: Endgame fan theories have been floating around claiming that the Decimated heroes are trapped in the Soul Stone or are in an alternate second universe, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan claim that isn't the case. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Mackie confirmed that his character is dead. He wasn't able to go any further and explain details, but he had this to say.

"Well, obviously, if you didn't see part three Infinity War, spoiler alert, I died. A lot of people died. So I'm gainfully unemployed. And that's why I'm doing other movies now."

Since Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie have confirmed that their characters are dead, what exactly does that mean for Avengers: Endgame? Marvel Studios is keeping everything under wraps for the time being (duh), so fans have been up to their own detective work to try and figure everything out. Obviously, Mackie and Stan could be throwing fans off of the scent and putting out false information. Or, they are not playing around and their characters are really dead and not trapped in a stone or in another parallel universe.

With that being said, Sebastian Stan previously revealed that there is going to be an epic battle that features nearly every character in the MCU in Avengers: Endgame. Since then, the actor has been pretty much silent on the matter, careful not to let anything else out. At the same time, the actor also admitted that he has not filmed anything for the fourth Avengers movie in quite a while, leading one to believe that he, and the rest of the dusted heroes, won't have too big of a part in the upcoming movie.

The Russo Brothers are currently hard at work trying to put the finishing touches on Avengers: Endgame. The movie was, and may still be, undergoing reshoots over the last few weeks and it is believed that the directors will be working in the highly anticipated movie right up until the time it hits theaters, working out all of the fine details. Kevin Smith recently revealed that he spoke with Anthony Russo and asked him about the Decimation and its cultural significance. According to Russo, they had no idea that it would become a pop culture touchstone when they were making the movie and that it caught them off guard. Whatever the case may be, Avengers: Endgame has a lot of explaining to do. You can check out the interview with Anthony Mackie below, provided by the Tonight Show's YouTube channel.
