Jeremy Renner celebrated the holiday weekend by sharing a bittersweet new image form Avengers: Endgame. Renner's co-star Karen Gillan also shared a pretty emotional photo from the record breaking movie this weekend when she posted a behind-the-scenes look at the massive cast in attendance for Tony Stark's funeral. The Russo Brothers actually faked out a lot of the cast by telling them they were attending a wedding as a way to keep certain members form spoiling the ending. With that being said, Renner's image is pretty emotional, even with only two characters in it.

Avengers: Endgame featured the death of Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow when she and Hawkeye ventured to Vormir to obtain the Soul Stone. Jeremy Renner's image is of he and Scarlett Johansson as they shot that particular scene in front of a green screen. The two are holding hand and discussing, or arguing who should make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. Hawkeye attempts to do it, but Black Widow outsmarts him and falls to her death, saving Earth's Mightiest Heroes and half of the universe.

While Tony Stark received a funeral with a ton of people form the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Natasha Romanoff received a brief scene where her colleagues cried and mourned her loss. For some MCU fans, she didn't receive a proper send off, but that was by design, according to the Russo Brothers. Romanoff wouldn't have wanted a big deal, she would've have wanted her sacrifice to be for a real reason, which is why the surviving members made sure to complete their plan in tribute to her from the only family she really knew.

While Natasha Romanoff is dead in the current timeline of the MCU, Scarlett Johansson will be reprising her role in the upcoming Black Widow standalone movie, which is reportedly set to go into production any time now. There have been rumors that the prequel will take place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, but that has yet to be confirmed at this time. Whatever the case may be, the story is going to be a lot more emotional since MCU fans all know how her story comes to a close with her epic sacrifice.

Avengers: Endgame has been in theaters for five weeks now and has slowed down quite a bit when compared to its record breaking first few weekends. The movie is now the second-highest grossing movie of all time and has its sights set on James Cameron's Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all time. As of this writing, Endgame is sitting at $2.68 billion, which is a little over $100 million away from breaking the record. Since the movie is so close, many are expecting Disney to pull off some magic to secure the coveted record. While we wait to see how the box office battle ends, you can check out the behind-the-scenes image below, thanks to Jeremy Renner's Instagram account.
