Continuing Marvel's tradition of putting a trailer for their early summer release during the Super Bowl, we now have a new look at Avengers: Endgame, the highly-anticipated follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War. The trailer opens with incredibly short, desatured clips of some of the fallen heroes from Marvel's last two movies, including Wasp, Spider-Man, and Nick Fury. The rest of the 30 second trailer is primarily focused on the Earth-based heroes, with Tony Stark and Nebula only showing up very briefly as they hastily try to fix the ship they are on.

It has been revealed that a majority of the content shown in the Endgame trailers will only be from the first 20 minutes of the movie, so as not to spoil anything and to keep the actual events of the movie as secretive as possible. However, this doesn't mean we can't learn from what we've been given so far. With this in mind, here are 6 things we learned from the Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl trailer.

6 [6] Cap's Shield Is Back

Cap's Shield Is Back

The ending of Captain America: Civil War featured Captain America leaving his shield behind after his clash with Iron Man. It was a symbolic moment for him, as he essentially left the mantle of Captain America behind in addition to his shield. Avengers: Infinity War featured Cap returning, but this time with shield-like claws provided to him by Black Panther. The Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl trailer featured Cap returning to his roots in order to save his friends, with his iconic shield finally back on his arm. In addition to the shield, Cap has seemingly taken back the position of leader of the Avengers, a position that has been held by Tony Stark for the past two years. Avengers: Infinity War put a lot more focus on Iron Man and Thor than Captain America, but these trailers for Avengers: Endgame make it look like Cap will finally go back to being the star of the show.

5 [5] Rocket Has His Suit From The Comics

Rocket Has His Suit From The Comics

This was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail, but in the brief shot focused on Rocket Raccoon, you can vaguely make out the new costume he is wearing. It's not his Guardians of the Galaxy suit or the red and white Quantum outfit from the leaked toys. Instead, this new outfit has large buttons over what appears to be red and light blue-ish-green colored cloth, as if he's part of a marching band. This is almost identical to his outfit from the comics, making Avengers: Endgame the first time we will ever see Rocket in his original outerwear.

4 [4] Thanos's New World Is Not The Paradise He Promised

Thanos's New World Is Not The Paradise He Promised

The opening shots of the trailer featured a number of new looks at what Earth is now like after Thanos's snap. While these shots initially look like standard looks at the Statue of Liberty and Citi Field, the deeper details of these shots show absolute destruction. Countless vehicles are crashed in these areas, making New York City look post-apocalyptic. There's also not a soul in sight in any of these shots, making it look as though New York City has been inexplicably abandoned. Evidently, Thanos's view of the future following his snap was not as realistic as he hoped, as humanity appears to be crumbling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

3 [3] Time Has Definitely Passed

Time Has Definitely Passed

The first half of the trailer gives a bit of emphasis on a support group meeting hosted by Captain America, made up of people who are still traumatized by the decimation. Over this is the dialogue, "Some people move on, but not us." This, and the establishing shots at the beginning of the trailer, implied that some time has certainly passed since the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Evidently, many people have already moved on in the world, seeing the snap as a thing of the past that they can't change. While the movie probably doesn't take place several years in the future as some predicted, it certainly doesn't seem to pick up minutes after the last movie as others predicted. We should expect the time gap between the two movies to be anywhere from a few months to a year.

2 [2] Rocket Joins The Avengers

Rocket Joins Avengers

The money shot of the trailer featured the remaining members of the Avengers marching across the Avengers facility, seemingly into battle. This roster (from right to left) includes Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Rocket, Ant-Man, War Machine, and either Bruce Banner or Hawkeye. The biggest stand-out in this shot is Rocket. While some predicted that Rocket would run away from the fight during Avengers: Endgame like he always does, that doesn't seem to be the case. Instead, Rocket is walking straight into danger alongside the Avengers to save his friends, and maybe even prove them wrong. It will be great to see Rocket's interaction with the rest of the heroes now that he appears to be an official member of the Avengers. He will certainly add an element to the Earth's Mightiest Heroes that we have not seen before.

1 [1] Thor Makes It To Thanos's Farm

Thor Thanos Farm

This observation is more speculation, but one shot of the trailer features Thanos in a new, bright location that looks an awful lot like where Thanos ended up during the final shot of Avengers: Infinity War. While the building he is in isn't the same building Thanos was in, the backdrop looks incredibly similar, leading us to believe that Thor has made it to where Thanos fled to. This would certainly be possible considering that Thor now has the ability to transport himself practically anywhere in the world by using Stormbreaker to summon the Bifrost. However, it's safe to say that when Thanos reaches this location, the adventure will only be beginning, with much of the movie possibly being a long chase across space and time after a fleeing Thanos. Though it was only 30 seconds, the new trailer for Avengers: Endgame was certainly a lot to take in. It will presumably be a couple months before we get another look at this highly-anticipated sequel from Marvel Studios. Is there anything else in the Super Bowl TV Spot that you spotted?
