For months, Marvel fans have been speculating that Captain America will instead be the Nomad in Avengers: Infinity War, and now, a few weeks before the premiere of the movie, the Russo Brothers have seemingly confirmed it with a weird poster mashup. When asked about the possibility of Captain America being the Nomad in the upcoming Infinity War back in January, Joe Russo hinted this was true, but didn't outright confirm it. Additionally, the Russo Brothers also posted a picture of Bucky holding Captain America's shield. They're certainly being pretty forthcoming with the hints this morning.

The Russo Brothers took to Instagram to post a mashup between Infinity War and the 2010 thriller, The American, starring George Clooney. The poster looks like it's fan-made, but the directors also now use it as their avatar. The poster says, "Chris Evans is the Nomad," which pretty much says it all. The Nomad period of Captain America comes about in the comics when Steve Rogers becomes disillusioned with America, much like he's become disillusioned with the state of the Avengers after the events of Civil War.

Here's where things get even more interesting for Infinity War. The Russo Brothers posted a picture of Bucky holding Captain America's shield, which is setting the internet abuzz with even more speculation. What does it mean? Is Sebastian Stan's Bucky going to pick up the shield and be the new Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It certainly looks that way with what the directors have been posting on social media today. However, could it all be a joke playing off of all of the rumors?

The Russo Brothers have been taking fan-made art and reposting it for months now, but these two specific images have been posted and made the avatars of their Twitter and Instagram pages. Plus, these are posts that have to do directly with Infinity War, not some meme post begging for the new trailer. These pictures go directly with an appearance that Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans made at the ACE Comic Con in Phoenix, Arizona. The duo were signing autographs and pointed to the Nomad character, which charged the speculation into overdrive.

The Russo Brothers have yet to respond to any of their new social media posts and they have not added captions or explanations. For those wondering if they recently had their accounts hacked, they also just posted a picture from the London partial screening of Infinity War last night. Regardless of what exactly the directors are trying to convey to fans, they're certainly having a lot of fun engaging with Marvel fans from all over the world. For now, it looks like Captain America is confirmed to be the Nomad in Infinity War and Bucky might be getting an interesting new part in Avengers 4.
