Marvel's Phase 3 recently got going with Captain America: Civil War and will be making a big leap forward with Doctor Strange very soon, but the Russo Brothers are already hard at work on Avengers: Infinity War. Official details on the massive MCU event have been scarce, but Cobie Smulders was kind enough to spill the beans (literally) on at least one thing. A very big poster. In the process, the actress has seemingly confirmed that her character Maria Hill will be returning for Avengers 3.

Cobie Smulders made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in order to promote her latest movie Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. During the show, Jimmy Kimmel asked her to literally spill a can of beans on a poster for Avengers: Infinity War, joking that headlines will read "Cobie Smulders Spills the Beans on Avengers: Infinity War and it was Everything!" In the process, though she didn't really reveal anything, it pretty much confirmed that Maria Hill will be back in the massive Marvel team-up.

Even though Cobie Smulders didn't actually say that she will be appearing in the movie during the clip, it seems to point in that direction. Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, who also owns ABC. That being the case, Jimmy Kimmel has done a ton of trailer premieres and other Marvel related things over the years. So, it wouldn't make sense for him to ask Cobie Smulders to do this were she not actually going to appear in Avengers: Infinity War.

When Marvel first announced their Phase 3 slate back in 2014, the movies were announced as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2. However, back in May, Joe Russo confirmed that the titles would change, and recently it was revealed that it would no longer be a Part 1 and Part 2 situation. Both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4 will be shooting back-to-back starting this November, with the shoot expected to last over nine months. We don't know much in terms of specific plot, but we do know that, in addition to Maria Hill, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange will be involved. And the Winter Soldier has been confirmed to return. Also,Thanos will finally be involved in a big way after being teased for a very long time.

The addition of Maria Hill does seem to make sense. Cobie Smulders made her debut as the character in The Avengers back in 2012 and also appeared in the sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron. She has also shown up in a few episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as well as Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Granted, she may not seem like someone who can help a great deal in actually fighting Thanos, but she is an important surrounding member of the Avengers team.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently in the early stages of production, with Josh Brolin having already been spotted doing some motion capture for Thanos. Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed the last two Captain America movies, are stepping in for Joss Whedon to direct both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4. Avengers: Infinity War is set for release on May 4, 2018, with Avengers 4 set to follow on May 3, 2019. You can check out the clip from Jimmy Kimmel Live for yourself below.
