Avengers: Infinity War is just a few weeks from hitting theaters and the promotional campaign is in full swing with recently released TV spots and a brand-new IMAX poster that was released yesterday. A quick glance at the new poster features nearly all of the major players from Infinity War except Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, who has notoriously been absent from all promo material and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man. However, upon closer inspection, Ant-Man appears to be in the new poster in a hidden Easter Egg in an interesting spot.
Marvel fans were typically upset to find that Hawkeye isn't in the new IMAX Infinity War poster, but things started to shift once one eagle-eyed fan noticed what looked like Ant-Man on the Avengers "A" logo. A closer look revealed nothing but some blurry lines on the high- resolution poster, so it was almost like the Boy Who Cried Wolf when it was revealed that Ant-Man is actually on the new Infinity War poster. Though, there are two red lines visible where they would be on Ant-Man's helmet. So, hmm. There is a second Ant-Man Easter egg revealed as well. If you look directly at the Infinity Gauntlet on Thanos' hand, you can almost see Ant-Man clinging on to where the Time Stone would normally be on the gauntlet. Somehow, someway, Ant-Man is hiding on this poster, gosh darn it, even if I don't want to believe it or really see it for myself.
This is exciting for a few reasons. The first of which is mainly because Paul Rudd's Ant-Man has made it on to some promotional material for Infinity War. We know he's going to be in the movie, but he hasn't been as talked about as the absence of Hawkeye. The Russo Brothers were recently asked about the lack of Hawkeye in the trailers, they let it be known that his story will be told when the movie comes out and that it's all interconnected. While that sounds cryptic, many believe that he and Ant-Man will have a larger role than initially anticipated.
The second reason that Ant-Man showing up on the new Infinity War poster is his placement. There's a new fan theory floating around that Hawkeye and Ant-Man will be the ones who come in and save the day after nearly everybody from the Avengers dies while fighting Thanos. The theory outs Ant-Man and Hawkeye together with the Time Stone to go back in time. Previous theories had them possibly teaming up with Doctor Strange, but if the Time Stone was already placed on the Infinity Gauntlet, it could mean that it was too late for Doctor Strange.
While the new fan theory is just speculation at this time, the placement of Ant-Man on the Infinity Gauntlet pours some more fuel on that fire. The new Infinity War IMAX poster also features some other Easter Eggs, like hidden logos, but there is still no sign of Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. But, it will all be figured out real soon since the movie hits theaters on April 27th. You can check out the image of Ant-Man in the new Infinity War poster below, thanks to the IMAX Twitter account.
