When we ring in the new year in just a few months, Marvel will also start filming its highly-anticipated and largely ambitious Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to film back-to-back with its currently untitled Avengers 4 sequel over a nine-month stretch. While we don't have an exact production start date yet, directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are currently scouting locations, sharing a new photo on social media, showcasing one of the locations they're looking at. The directors wouldn't say where exactly they're scouting locations , but it does look like a unique location.

The Russo Brothers posted this image on Facebook earlier today, featuring the directors and some unidentified crew members looking up from a towering stairwell. Naturally, the directors wouldn't offer any specifics about how this location may be used in the movie. With the production start looming, it remains unclear how many location scouting trips the directors will take before principal photography gets under way.

Last week, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased that there will be some "unexpected team-ups" in Avengers: Infinity War, hinting that he would like to see Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) team up in the future. He also hinted that, after Phase 3 comes to a close with the untitled Avengers sequel, the MCU may focus on telling smaller stories, saying there is a "finality" to Phase 3, with Phase 4 starting a "distinctively different chapter" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Avengers: Infinity War rumored to feature as many as 67 characters, some have wondered if Phase 4 could pave the way for storytelling on a smaller scale.

Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Scott Derrickson teased last month that Doctor Strange will have a big role in Avengers: Infinity War, and for those who have seen the Doctor Strange post-credit scene, he may in fact have a role in Thor: Ragnarok as well. The post-credit scene featured the Sorcerer Supreme meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) himself, who explains that he's on Earth with his brother Loki, because they're looking for their father Odin. The Sorcerer Supreme agrees to help the brothers find their father, so Thor and Loki can leave Earth, since Doctor Strange still considers Loki a threat to Earth.

One of the many other mysteries swirling around this movie is whether or not any of the Marvel TV characters will be featured in this story, but it has been hinted that every established MCU character will show up. Still, Marvel hasn't released any plot details for Avengers: Infinity War, which likely won't happen until production gets under way. Take a look at the new location scout photo from Avengers: Infinity War.
