The cast of Back to The Future is all set to reunite for the 35th anniversary. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is kicking of its 11th annual TCM Classic Film Festival this spring. Stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson will appear at the special screening with co-writer and co-producer Bob Gale in attendance. This will also be the world premiere of a new 4k remaster of the beloved movie. The 2020 TCM Classic Film Festival, held in the heart of Hollywood April 16th-19th, will center around the theme "Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film."

Back to the Future is an '80s classic and one of the most iconic movies of all time. Hitting theaters in 1985, the movie quickly became a huge hit and turned Michael J. Fox into a superstar. The movie also brought the DeLorean back into pop culture after it had ceased production two years earlier. Ben Mankiewicz, TCM primetime anchor and official host of the TCM Classic Film Festival, had this to say about the screening.

"Like virtually everyone else of my generation, I saw Back to the Future when it was released in 1985 and within an instant, the story, the characters, the music, and the car, of course, became critical touchstones in my personal cinematic universe. And those actors - Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Christopher Lloyd - forever carved themselves into an 80s-movie version of Mount Rushmore. Step aside John McClane; move over Ferris Bueller; Marty McFly - the brainchild of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale - is the definitive character of the decade."

Though mentioned, by Ben Mankiewicz, Crispin Glover is not advertised to appear. The actor did not appear in the sequels, and ended up suing the producers after they used prothetics to make another actor look like him and fool the audience. When it comes down to it, Glover says he was not offered the same amount of money as Lea Thompson, who had a similar-sized role. The actor also states he made Robert Zemeckis angry because he started to ask questions about the script. Regardless, he more than likely will not appear at the event.

The Back to the Future cast has reunited a number of times over the years for conventions and other occasions. Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson are always asked about getting together for Back to the Future 4. Lloyd has revealed several times that he would be into returning, but Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis are definitely not into the idea at all. For now, we have DeepFake videos showing Marty McFly in 2015 and Superbowl commercials bringing Fox and Lloyd back together.

TCM Primetime host Ben Mankiewicz will serve as host of the TCM Classic Film Festival this year. The festival's official hotel and central gathering point for the eleventh consecutive year will be The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which has a longstanding role in movie history and was the site of the first Academy Awards ceremony. This year's theme of "Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film} will take movie fans on a journey to enchanted worlds of fantasy and stories beyond belief. From myths and magical creatures to ghostly encounters and travels through time, they will escape with fellow movie lovers to places that will ignite their imagination.
