He lives near his Boca Raton rehab center where his family has recently moved in with him as he is now able to reside outside of the treatment center. Bam Margera achieving this major step in his recovery comes shortly after he had settled a lawsuit filed against the filmmakers of Jackass Forever. He was previously fired from the film for failing to abide by a "wellness agreement" that he says was signed when he was struggling with his mental health. It's unclear how much Margera was paid, but he says he's "happy with the outcome and feels vindicated" with the settlement. His plan at this time is to make his way back to California to work with sober skateboarders on various projects.

His first stint in rehab was in 2009, though Margera has said that his drinking in particular had intensified greatly following the death of best friend and Jackass co-star Ryan Dunn in 2011. He has since been in an out of rehab over the years and had multiple brushes with the law, often while under the influence. In 2021, fans grew very concerned for his wellbeing when Margera announced his Jackass Forever firing in strange videos posted to his Instagram account, in which he could be seen crying and vomiting.

Margera also spoke ill of Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine, who helped create the franchise. This prompted Steve-O to call out Margera on Instagram by telling him that he only had himself to blame for his problems. Perhaps the words of Steve-O, who had been 13 years sober at the time himself following his own substance abuse issues, had struck a chord with Margera.

"Bam- the two people you're saying wronged you (Knoxville and Tremaine) are the same two people who organized the intervention which saved my life," Steve-O said. "Everyone bent over backwards to get you in the movie, and all you had to do was not get loaded. You've continued to get loaded, it's that sample. We all love you every bit as much as we all say we do, but nobody who really loves you can enable or encourage you to stay sick."

Best of luck to Margera with his continued recovery.
