According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remastered 1942 Walt Disney classic Bambi sold about 1 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday, its first day in rerelease on home video, according to Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the Walt Disney Co.'s video distribution arm. Bambi's day sales performance matches other Disney Platinum Series home video rereleases of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Lion King, the latter of which sold 3 million combined DVD and VHS units during its first two days in release in September 2003, BVHE executives said.

Last week, Lions Gate Home Entertainment's horror film Saw was the nation's best-renting title, generating about $7.12 million in consumer rental spending for a 12-day rental revenue cume of $15.6 million, according to Home Media Retailing magazine. Saw was the second-best-selling DVD in as many weeks, according to Nielsen VideoScan.
