IMG Films has just optioned Barry Minkow's life story. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Minkow was the youngest person to take a company public on Wall Street. He later was sent to prison on fraud charges.
Minkow was a carpet-cleaning entrepreneur who did a stretch in prison, only to come out reformed and a man of the cloth. He soon became a Christian minister, and was featured on a segment of 60 Minutes.
An autobiography about his life entitled Cleaning Up will be used as the basis for the film. IMG co-founder Jeff Bowler stated, "I saw the '60 Minutes' piece and was floored; this is a huge comeback story."
The film starts shooting this fall.
