It seems ABC and Barry Sonnenfeld will be working together yet again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Barry Sonnenfeld will direct and executive produce the new pilot Funny in Farsi for ABC.
The series will be based off of Iranian author Firoozeh Dumas' memoirs about moving to Southern California with his family, when her father moved the family from Iran to the United States for his engineering job. The network originally ordered the pilot with a director's contingency, but Sonnenfeld was not available to work on the project at the time.
The pilot script was written by Jeffrey Hodes and Nastaran Dibai. No production schedule has been announced yet.
