/kevin-smith-teases-batmans-suit-in-batman-vs-superman/Last month, after a live Q&A with the cast of Man of Steel, moderator (and film director in his own right) Kevin Smith blurted out on a follow-up podcast that Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder had shown him a photo of Ben Affleck in his new Batman costume, and the guy lost it. Apparently, Bruce Wayne will be getting a completely new Batsuit, something we've never seen brought to the screen before.
Here's what the 'Fat Man on Batman' had to say.
"I saw the Batman costume. More than that I saw a picture of him (Ben Affleck) in the costume. Now, I don't want to give anything away 'cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this, I instantly bear hugged him (Zack Snyder). You have not seen this costume in a movie on film before, and for a comic book fan it was mind bending. I was like 'Get out of here, only you have enough power to pull this off.' Because everyone always like does this The Matrix/X-Men black armor...It was fantastic. I'm already a flag waver for this movie, but the costume, it blew my mind. I think everyone is just gonna be like 'Holy ****!' It's its own thing, man. It's like we haven't been down this path at all. I was so elated....Even the hardest core "**** all this" person will be like 'alright, I'm ready.'"
Today, costume designer Michael Wilkinson confirmed what Kevin Smith had to say, also revealing that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman will be stepping into an outfit that is completely new (though it must be noted, we've never seen this character on the big screen before). Basically, we can expect something a little less flashy than that iconic gold, blue and red bra and panty set that she usually wears.
The Batman Vs. Superman costumes are in the process of being finalized, with Henry Cavill's Supermen costume also being slightly modified. But not too much. This is what Michael Wilkinson had to say.
""We are now in the stage where we're refining our designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in preparation for shooting."
The designer than went onto compare creating the costumes to the 70s aesthetic he had to put together for this December's period comedy American Hustle.
"[They are] quite similar. [I am] tremendously excited [to be working on how these] characters will be seen for the next generation of filmmakers."
Right now, there is a question of whether or not we'll even see Wonder Woman in her superhero outfit. Some sources have claimed that she is barely even in the movie, and we may simple see Diana before her emergence as Wonder Woman in Justice League. There are still others who are holding out for the belief that this sequel will be announced as Justice League before shooting begins early in the New Year.
