Will Matt Damon join Ben Affleck in the upcoming Batman Reboot? The actor is currently out making the rounds for his latest movie Jason Bourne. He has reunited with director Paul Greengrass for the fifth installment of that franchise, which is a pretty big deal. Inevitably, the subject of playing a superhero came up. And apparently Damon is not opposed to the idea, as long as his friend and Good Will Hunting partner is behind it.

Matt Damon was speaking with JoBlo during the course of his press tour, and revealed that he is actually open to playing a superhero. It just has to be under the right circumstances. Those circumstances just so happen to include his BFF Ben Affleck. Who just happens to be directing a new standalone Batman movie that he will star in and co-write. Here is what he had to say.

"I'd consider anything with the right director, but I can't imagine there are any superheroes left, I think they're all taken at this moment. If [Ben Affleck] was directing me, I'd jump on it in a New York minute. I'd love to work with Ben. The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he's willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we're not going to get on with it."

Damon was clearly poking a little bit of fun at Affleck and wasn't making any serious accusations about him taking the best roles from other actors. It is true though that Affleck does tend to wind up in the lead in his movies, such as Argo, The Town and eventually in his solo Batman movie. It would definitely be interesting to see the two team up with one another again in this particular capacity.

Damon did joke that there are no superheroes left for him to play, and he isn't the only Hollywood creative to make that joke recently. Nicolas Winding Refn recently made a similar comment before stating that he would like to make a Batgirl movie. Comic book fans and studios know that there are plenty of superheroes left, but a lot of the A-list roles are gone, that much is true. There were many jokes made about Matt Damon playing the Robin to Ben Affleck's Batman when it was announced he was taking on the role of the Caped Crusader, but that is definitely not going to happen.

Damon and Affleck have been working together ever since they wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting together, and they have continued to work together ever since. They recently revived Project Greenlight on HBO, as well as working together on their online reality series The Runner. If the stars align, the two could wind up working together on a superhero movie together at some point down the line, but we probably shouldn't count on it. Jason Bourne is set for release on July 29.
