When Warner Bros. debuted the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer during their Hall H panel at Comic-Con, the footage confirmed a number of different rumors that had been swirling for months about the superhero movie. One of those rumors was that Batman's sidekick Robin will be featured in the movie in some way, and that he will be killed, most likely by The Joker. That rumor was confirmed during a shot in the trailer when Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) glances up at Robin's suit, with the hand-painted remarks, "Ha Ha Ha Joke's On You Batman" from The Joker. Today we have a new report from Heroic Hollywood, who claim that director Zack Snyder's teenage son Eli Snyder will be playing Robin.

Eli Snyder is reportedly playing dead in a scene he filmed with Jared Leto as The Joker. This lines up with a report from April, which claims Jared Leto is shooting a flashback scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where he kills Jason Todd, a.k.a. Robin. That rumor was never confirmed, but it does make sense, since we know Ben Affleck appears in Suicide Squad, trying to track down The Joker. It isn't known if The Joker also appears in present-day scenes as well, to provide a tie-in for Batman's appearance in Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad is said to take place between Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which lines up with everything we've seen thus far.

The Robin death scene is believed to pay homage to the iconic 1988 comic A Death in the Family. There have also been rumors that The Joker is the only one to know of or to have ever met Batman in person, but that has yet to be confirmed. We also learned at SDCC that both Gotham and Metropolis are "twin cities," with director likening them to San Francisco and Oakland, which are separated by a bay. It was also revealed that an errant laser beam from Zod during the massive battle at the end of Man of Steel, was responsible for the destruction of Wayne Tower in Gotham, which is why Batman comes to despise the Man of Steel.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Callan Mulvey. The new trailer from SDCC also gave us our first glimpse at Holly Hunter, who plays an unidentified Senator who wants to hold Superman responsible for the destruction in Metropolis and Gotham. Since her name wasn't revealed, it isn't known if she is based on a character from the DC Comics, but hopefully we'll find out more soon.

Eli Snyder has starred in three of his father's movies, portraying a young Leonidas in 300, a young Rorscach in Watchmen and "Tommy Soldier #1" in Sucker Punch. He played quarterback for Maranatha High and he is committed to attending UCLA this fall to study film. It isn't known how large or small his role may be, but we'll have to wait and see. It's also possible that Robin could come back from the dead and avenge his death as The Red Hood in future DC movies, but we aren't sure if Warner Bros. is taking that route or not. What do you think about Zack Snyder's son playing Robin?
