Yesterday marked the one year wait for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today, we are one day closer to seeing this epic DC Comics movie play out on the big screen, and 5 character portraits richer for our troubles. Thus far, director Zack Snyder has been kind enough to offer a look at his superheroes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. And then yesterday, he finally unveiled the very bald Lex Luthor. We've collected them all for you to see here!

Can you believe it's been almost two years since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was first announced at Comic-Con 2013? It wasn't until several months later, on March 13, 2014, that we got our first look at Ben Affleck in his new Batman costume standing next to the Batmobile, which sent fans into a frenzy. Four months went by before we got our first look at Henry Cavill in his new Superman costume, which looks pretty close to the one on display in Man of Steel. We only had to wait three more weeks for our first look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, which happened during Comic-Con 2014, exactly one year after the movie was first announced.

Then, an agonizing 7 months later, in a shocking move and in the middle of the night no less, we got in advanced look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman this past February, which surprised everybody. We only had to wait one more month to get our first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, which happened just yesterday. This ended months of speculation about whether or not the criminal mastermind would actually be bald for this new take on the iconic DC character. Take a look at all of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice released so far:

Batman (Ben Affleck)

Fans threw a fit when Ben Affleck was first cast as the new Bruce Wayne, said to be an aging vigilante at the end of his superhero journey. He was quickly dubbed Batfleck, and his participation in the movie fueled endless debate. Now, almost two years later, fans seem to be on his side, and generally liked the look of this haggard hero in his new batsuit. Though, we have yet to hear his voice or see him in action, so the verdict may still be out. This character portrait was released on March 13, 2014.

Superman henry Cavill

Superman (Henry Cavill)

First appearing as Kal-El in Man of Steel, Henry Cavill will reprise his role as DC Comics most recognized character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Only this time out, he has to share title billing with DC's other, possibly more popular star attraction The Dark Knight. This was the least anticipated of the character portraits, and you can see why. He doesn't look much different than he did in his previous adventure. This character portrait was released on July 3, 2014.

Wonder Woman Costume

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)

Just as equally polarizing as the Ben Affleck casting news was the fact that a somewhat unknown actress by the name of Gal Gadot would be taking on the first big screen incarnation of Wonder Woman. Like Batfleck, endless debate has continued to wage on whether or not she is right for the role. Some think she is too skinny. Others think she's not a big enough star to carry a solo movie by herself. But the fan tide turned during Comic-Con 2014 when we all got our first look at her dressed in the new Wonder Woman costume. This character poster was released on July 26, 2014.

Aquaman Jason Momoa

Aquaman (Jason Momoa)

Unlike the casting of Batman and Wonder Woman, there was no backlash against the casting of Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the King of Atlantis. The actor's involvement in the project was rumored for a very longtime before Warner Bros. and DC announced that it was official. We got our first look at Aquaman in the middle of the night, when director Zack Snyder decided to release the image early. Its possible that he knew it was about to be leaked, and the studio didn't want that. While fans were happy with Jason Momoa's casting, some have balked at his appearance, calling it a little too goofy. Though some truly love this new look. Other fans are still on the fence. And interesting to note, the actor has never been confirmed to appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while rumors claim he only has a small cameo. This character portrait was revealed February 20th, 2015.

Lex Luthor Jesse Eisenberg

Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg)

Jesse Eisenberg followed suite in terms of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's interesting casting choices. No one expected that the actor would be announced as the movie's main villain, and he certainly is an interesting choice. The main point of concern most have had with this casting decision is whether or not he'd actually have hair as Lex. That was answer with the character portrait we got yesterday in celebration of the one year wait. Most weren't too surprised by his new look. This character portrait was released on March 25, 2015.

There you have it. Those are all five character portraits released thus far for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. What do you think of this main superhero line-up? And do you like the new villain? Who should we see next? Amy Adams as Lois Lane? Jeremy Irons as Alfred? Ezra Miller as The Flash? What about Ray Fisher as Cyborg? Or are you more interested in seeing some of the Suicide Squad cast in costume now? Eh, you guys are never satisfied!
