Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are spotted on the set in a new behind-the-scenes photo from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was revealed in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. No details were given for the scene in question, but it does feature both actors in full costume as Batman and Superman. And they are standing amongst rubble, so we can pretty much guess it came from their ultimate showdown. Director Zack Snyder talked to the magazine about how the idea to bring Batman and Superman together on the big screen came to be.

"Actually, I think the first thing we mentioned was the movie would end with some Kryptonite being delivered to Wayne Manor. Da-dah! Everyone was like, 'Oh shit!'"

There is quite a bit of destruction in this behind-the-scenes photo, and since both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are seen in full costume, it's certainly possible that this is part of a massive battle scene between the two mighty superheroes. The two trailers released for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice thus far have only teased this epic battle, but hopefully we'll get to see these heroes engaging in combat soon.

We still have several months until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters next March, so it isn't known when Warner Bros. may release the next trailer. One possibility is that it could be released in theaters attached to prints of Pan, which was part of the studio's Hall H presentation at Comi-Con earlier this month. They could also wait until the Point Break remake, which hits theaters on Christmas Day, to attach the new trailer to, but we don't know for sure at this point.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar for writing Ben Affleck's Best Picture winner Argo.
