Earlier today, we got confirmation that Justice League characters Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) will appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before uniting in Justice League Part 1. Of course, that wasn't news to most fans, since there had been rumors all three heroes will join forces with Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) at the end of the movie. Entertainment Weekly has a new report which sheds some light on The Flash's appearance, which is much different than previously rumored.

Director Zack Snyder teased that both Batman and Superman will be plagued by nightmarish "visions," which the filmmaker says has qualities similar to A Christmas Carol, which could be glimpses from the future, or potential warnings. Ezra Miller's The Flash makes an appearance in one of Bruce Wayne's visions, delivering a "cryptic message" to Batman. The content of this message wasn't revealed, but the director described it as "a giant Easter egg" that he hopes fans will be discussing after seeing the movie. Here's what the director had to say about this aspect of the story.

"We had such a straightforward narrative, on one hand, I wanted this other layer of the movie to be complicated and bizarre."

It isn't known if this means the long-rumored scene at the end of the movie, with all of the Justice League members, isn't happening, and it isn't clear if Aquaman and Cyborg are also appearing in similar visions. There have also been reports that The Flash shows up as a blur during a convenience store scene, but like most of the other rumors swirling around the movie, that has not been confirmed. As for The Flash's vision, it's possible that he's actually travelling through the "speed force" to deliver this message, but we don't know for sure.

One of the other dream sequences is also rumored to give fans their first glimpse at a major DC Comics villain, Darkseid. Fans have speculated about Darkseid's involvement for months, after it was noticed that the villain's Parademons are flying around in a shot that is from another one of Bruce Wayne's visions/dreams. This sequence is set in the fictional land of Kandahar, with Batman carrying a large machine gun as a greets an "armoured juggernaut" at a desert compound. Since both Batman and Superman are having these visions, it's possible that one of the other heroes (or villains) may be responsible for them, but we don't know for sure.

After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters, the DC movie universe will continue with Suicide Squad (August 5, 2016), Wonder Woman (June 23, 2017), Justice League Part 1 (November 17, 2017), The Flash (March 16, 2018), Aquaman (July 27, 2018), Shazam!
