/batman-v-superman-imax-video-wayne-family-death/Yesterday, we reported that an iconic scene from the DC comics was being shot for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice using IMAX cameras. This report came from a fan, who witnessed the cameras being set up on the streets of Chicago for the production. Today, a spokeswoman for IMAX confirms that director Zack Snyder and his crew are using multiple IMAX cameras to capture some of the action in this highly anticipated superhero ensemble.
While it is not yet known how much of the movie will actually be shot in IMAX, it is known that one very key sequence will utilize the state of the art IMAX equipment. As this is considered a spoiler, the next paragraph comes with a warning. Please turn away now if you don't want to know any more about the story line.
As reported by Twitter user Eisentower30, Bruce Wayne will have a flashback to his parents being killed outside of a movie theater showing the 1940's version of The Mark of Zorro. This will be one of the scenes shot using the IMAX cameras. It should be noted that the scene does not include any of the key actors in the film, which include Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot and Jesse Eisenberg.
That's not to say this is the only scene being shot in IMAX. It's highly probably that at least one major action sequence will be shot in the format. Though, that was not confirmed by Warner Bros. Other movies recently shot in IMAX include Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises and Transformers: Age of Extinction. It has also been confirmed that one major action sequence in Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been shot in IMAX.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is only the seventh movie to be shot in IMAX. That number will probably double in the next year, as more and more filmmakers becoming familiar with the technology, and as the cameras decrease in size and become more accessible to on set use.
