There has been a lot of talk lately about Man of Steel 2. Warner Bros. is rumored to be moving forward on this standalone sequel that solely focuses on Superman. We've heard that Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller has been offered the job. We've also heard story details that claim Supergirl, Brainiac and Bizarro are all included in the mix. Though, that was said to have been from an early script before Bruce Wayne was brought into the mix. Speaking with jam.Canoe.com, director Zack Snyder confirms that Man of Steel 2 is coming. And it's called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He explains.

"I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It'd be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be."

The way he makes it sound, Warner Bros. isn't really interested in making another solo Superman movie in the near future. Even if fans seem to want it right away. Though, no one has yet said no to the rumor that Ben Affleck is set to co-write, direct and star in an Untitled Batman Reboot, which is said to set up a new trilogy. While DC and Warner Bros. seemed to have their comic book movie line-up set until 2020, it's always possible that we'll hear about more movies being added to the mix before release in 2019. But it sounds like an impossible task with 10 movies already on the way.

Even if we do see Man of Steel 2 before 2020, it's unlikely that Zack Snyder will be at the helm. He already has his hands quite full with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which he will immediately follow-up with Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2. About bringing that epic two-part adventure to the screen, he had this to say.

"We really have to figure out the why of them. And I think that we have. That's the one thing that's cool to me about Batman v Superman, it's all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that's compelling."

After making such hits as the Dawn Of The Dead remake and 300, did Zack Snyder ever think he'd be making such epic DC Comics superhero movies? Not quite. While he doesn't think his career path is 'weird', he does see it as exciting and challenging. He went onto say the following

"[When I made Dawn of the Dead], I was really into (Frank Miller's comic) The Dark Knight Returns. I don't know that I thought about it in those terms, but if you told me that I might make a Justice League movie, I wouldn't think that that was weird. But I don't think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now. The pressure's on us, the filmmakers, to make the movies better. It's about human stories; it's not just about big explosions and stuff. What are these people feeling?"

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before. Zack Snyder directs Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from a screenplay by Chris Terrio.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Holly Hunter in an unspecified role. There is also speculation that the Justice League will be formed at the end of this adventure, offering our first look at Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).
