When the third trailer arrived for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last month, many were surprised that it confirmed a long-standing rumor, that the villainous Doomsday will be a big part of the story. It is believed that both Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman will put their differences aside to battle this immense villain towards the end of this movie, but the footage also teased the possible arrival of yet another iconic baddie. Today we have new photos from Empire Magazine's latest issue, which is largely devoted to this upcoming movie, which hints at the presence of this evil character. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.
There have been rumors swirling for years now that heroes Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will unite at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, along with Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) to form the Justice League. Another rumor revealed that these heroes will learn of an even bigger villain that they must contend with, Darkseid, who is rumored to show up in either Justice League Part 1 or Justice League Part 2. One of the new photos released today features Batman gazing down upon a massive Omega symbol, which serves as Darkseid's calling card, so to speak.
Other fans noticed that, in the second trailer, we saw shots of Parademons flying around, which is another sign that Darkseid's debut is imminent, but we still don't known exactly when he may show up, or who will be playing the iconic villain. Still, the presence of this Omega symbol could mean that Darkseid is watching over the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, waiting for the right moment to strike. There are a few other intriguing details revealed in these photos as well.
One of the images features Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne visiting the Wayne family mausoleum, with a handful of flowers, presumably visiting the crypts of his late parents. We also get a new shot of the actor in his Batman costume, without the iconic cowl, along with images of Wonder Woman, director Zack Snyder inspecting the Batmobile, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and more. Hopefully we'll get new details about how Darkseid fits into the story very soon.
It's worth noting that we reported way back in December 2014 that Darkseid won't actually show up on screen until Justice League Part 2, giving the studio plenty of time to find the right actor to portray him. While that report was never confirmed, it seems we'll be seeing Darkseid at some point in the massive DC Comics Extended Universe (DCEU). Are you looking forward to Darkseid's arrival? Let us know what you think, after taking a look at these new photos.
