The new Baywatch movie is definitely a comedy. If you weren't sure, the latest photo from the set shared by Dwayne Johnson on his official Instagram page assures us of that. It shows The Rock and Zac Efron putting their glorious six-packs on display. While it looks like co-star Jon Bass has been interested in a different kind of six-pack altogether. The confident young man shows off his much more realistic psyche as he sets out to save those in need of a good beach rescue. Says Dwayne Johnson about this latest photo.

"The Boys of #BAYWATCH are some bad ass dudes. We have a lot of cool things in our movie. R-Rated comedy, hard core action, beautiful ass kicking women, the unforgiving and majestic ocean, Zac's 17 pack abs, and most important our #1 secret [email protected]"

You might not immediately recognize co-star Jon Bass. He got his start acting on the HBO TV series Girls back in 2014. And he has had bit parts on House of Lies and The Newsroom. He may be best known, though, as Del on the cult favorite Comedy Central sitcom Big Time in Hollywood, FL. He appeared in the indie romantic comedy Jane Wants a Boyfriend this past March. And he'll be seen starring later this year in The Runaround opposite Kristen Schaal, J.K. Simmons and Emile Hirsch. Here's what The Rock has to say about his hilarious new co-star.

"Underneath this layer of oiled up sex god is an extremely talented dude, 100% comfortable in his own skin and truthfully, Jon Bass just may wind up being my absolute favorite part of our movie. We are the boys of #BAYWATCH. And we are some bad muthaf*ckas.

#BAYWATCH MAY 19th, 2017."

This new take on Baywatch follows a "by-the-book and very serious lifeguard," played by Dwayne Johnson who joins forces with a "young rule-flouting hothead" (Zac Efron) to try and save their beach from environmental destruction by an oil tycoon. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay most recently written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th). Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) wrote the original draft of the script, with Dwayne Johnson also producing alongside Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman.

The original Baywatch series started in 1989 on NBC, but it was cancelled after just one season. The show then came back in 1991 in first-run syndication, with new stars such as Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth, and it became a massive global sensation, remaining on the air until 2001. Also starring in this big screen version of Baywatch are Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Priyanka Chopra, Hannibal Buress and original cast member David Hasselhoff. Baywatch comes to theaters next summer.
