Though it was a shot-for-shot recreation of the original animated classic, Disney's live-action trailer for Beauty and the Beast wowed audiences to become the most viewed trailer in 24 hours, beating that other anticipated 2017 romance Fifty Shades Darker. Today, we have a photo that proves Beauty and the Beast might have its own dark side. As we see Gaston trying to woo the comely Belle.

Gaston is slick. Gaston is quick. And Gaston is no one's neck, as Empire describes it in sharing this latest sneak peek at the hugely anticipated movie. Empire hit newsstands in England today, it features this never before scene moment between Luke Evans and Emma Watson. To say Belle looks unimpressed would be an understatement. Luke Evans says this.

"He gets as dark as any Disney character could possibly get. This is a man who, for the first time in his life, hasn't got what he wanted."

Gaston is set up as comedic relief. He is an ex-soldier, and he's no buffoon. There are multiple 'shades' to the man, indicating that he could definitely give Christian Grey a run for his money. Belle, on the other hand, remains the beauty. Emma Watson, who is a Beauty and the Beast super fan couldn't quite get over the fact that she was playing this iconic character in the flesh. She says this.

"Belle was one of my idols growing up. I knew every word to the animation. I was born in Paris like Belle. We both love books, obviously. She is someone who doesn't really feel like she fits in, but she finds her place in the world and uses what makes her different. She was just inspiring to me."

There will be a lot more about the making of Beauty and the Beast in this month's issue of Empire. So you'll want to be sure to pick that up. Beauty and the Beast is in theaters every March 17, 2017. It comes from director Bill Condon and also features Dan Stevens as the Beast. Take a look at this latest image, and imagine the alternate world where Gaston and Belle ride off into the sunset leaving Beast in his castle forever.
