Beetlejuice 2 is moving fast and with a great cast. Weeks after the confirmation of the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton's classic, great news regarding the cast that will accompany Michael Keaton in a new adventure in the afterlife continues to come.

It's been 35 years since the release of the dark comedy that became a cult film, like much of Burton's work. And, as is the case with many successful movies and series from the past because of their nostalgic value, the story will continue not only with part of the original cast, but also with new big names from the industry.

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, and Italian model and actress Monica Bellucci recently joined the cast of the project, which will also include the return of Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara as Lydia and Delia Deetz. But that's not all, since now The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Willem Dafoe will also be part of the film.

According to the outlet, Dafoe will be playing a law enforcement officer in the afterlife. For their parts, Ortega will become Lydia's daughter and Belucci will play Beetlejuice's wife, while Theroux's character remains unknown.

In Beetlejuice, a couple of recently dead ghosts ask the titular spirit for help to haunt a family of the living who live in their home now that they are no longer around. Beetlejuice will use unorthodox methods to get rid of the new owners, causing all kinds of strange and unpleasant situations.

In the finale, Beetlejuice tries to marry Lydia to wreak havoc on the world, but they manage to stop him. This could mean that Keaton's character will return to exact revenge against those who thwarted his plans.

Tim Burton will once again get behind the cameras to give life to the gothic comedy, which will be written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who already participated in the writing of the director's recent Netflix series together with Ortega.

Could Another Tim Burton Classic Get a Sequel?

There is no doubt that Tim Burton has become one of the great exponents of gothic cinema and dark comedy in Hollywood. His films are unique for the style that marks each scene of the director, with eccentric characters and unexpected stories.

After the enormous success of the Wednesday series, and the hype around the Beetlejuice sequel, it is to be expected that some other project from the director's past will return to the screen. And one of the great candidates could be Edward Scissorhands.

Starring two of Burton's era-defining stars, Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder, the film follows an artificial man created by a reclusive inventor, who has scissors instead of hands. After the death of his creator, Edward is taken in by a family, but he has a hard time adjusting to the world, especially after falling in love with the eldest daughter of the family, Kim.

Despite the fact that the movie has its ending, a very emotional one, Edward is a character that could be revisited in the future to continue to tell his story, his adaptation to today's world and what has happened to him in all these years.
